15 days and counting!
Dear Bar Patrons, Did you all forget how nice it is when the sun is out? I know I did, but I am so grateful for it! As we are mid-challenge, we have lots to discuss! Please read on...
Meet our May Client of the Month!
My name is Joyce Lucky-Bowman; I moved to Tahoe in 1964 with my family. I’ve seen a lot of changes, some for the better, and some not so much. Once I was on my own, I moved out of the area only to come back; it’s hard to beat Tahoe.
I started off my working career as a ski instructor and stayed with that for 20 years. Then switched gears and became an interior designer. I started a business with a partner and cultivated that passion for 25 years, then retired in December of 2017.
My two step daughters live out of the area and now have kids of their own, making me a grandmother – I still can’t believe that.
I am a person that loves to stay in motion and I have an amazing family that helps with that lifestyle. My loving partner, Roger, is always ready to join me on most of my crazy adventures that I dream-up, along with my sister Sandra, who is also my best friend. She might be a little more apt to explore with me than most of my friends, especially if we may encounter unfriendly conditions…
One of my brothers is severely handicapped with cerebral palsy and is one of my life inspirations. He never complains about anything! He has done several long distance fund raising rides on his three wheel bicycle that I have joined him on, one being a ride that took us from Carson City to Washington D.C. – That was a very humbling experience.
I love almost everything to do with the outdoors, but I discovered about 10 years ago that I needed a healthy, strong body to get to where I wanted to go, whether it be downhill or backcountry skiing, mountain bike riding, jogging, hiking or extended days backpacking. So I discovered Pilates and Barre, which have helped me tremendously. The Bar Tahoe classes along with all of the amazing instructors have helped me to continue with my passion to “never stop exploring”. I recommend these classes to everyone I know, I really think they are instrumental in keeping a healthy body. Thank you, all of you, at The Bar.
We are more than half-way through our challenge, but we still have a way to go! How many days have you gotten in? Are you reaching YOUR challenge goal? You still have time to do so.The challenge ends Thursday, May 16.
Because you have been pushing yourselves, please join us to celebrate your accomplishments on Friday, May 17 at 5:15. Drinks, apps, surprises and super awesome people will be present-don’t miss it!
Bringing The Bar to the Bars
The Bar will be featuring pop-up bars at various bars throughout the summer. So far we have two set up: Mountain News Brewery (on 3rd street across from Bank of the West- yes, the newspaper!) on Saturday, May 11 at 3 pm and at AleworX on Sunday, June 2 at 9: 30 am. Come ready to work hard and be rewarded afterwards! More info to come, but sign up quickly because there will be limited spaces.
Line Dancing All Summer Long
Dancing with Luca formed a great partnership, and I will be teaching line dancing every other Thursday at AleworX throughout the summer, beginning Thursday, May 30 from 7-8pm (dancing to follow from 8-9). Plan on Tracy's kickboxing class followed by dancing, pizza and drinks during our awesome summer nights.
The Bar is now a part of Tahoe Tuesdays through the Chamber, so drop in classes are only $10 with your Tahoe Tuesdays card. Make sure you buy your card today and tell your friends.
